275kV Substation | Mechanical, Electrical & IT Infrastructure

Hardtech Engineering Services were proud to be part of the construction team for a major new-build Utility & Energy Sector scheme. This project was a significant engineering undertaking, featuring a raised building on piled foundations designed specifically to mitigate local flood risks and navigate challenging ground conditions.

Working as part of a specialist construction team, we were involved from the initial cost-review phase through to final handover. Hardtech ES was responsible for the supply and installation of the complete mechanical, electrical, and IT infrastructure.

Scope of Work

The project required a high degree of technical expertise and a commitment to a demanding schedule. Our team delivered the full scope ahead of the original deadline while remaining strictly within the set budget.

• Specialised HVAC & Control: We designed and supplied a bespoke BMS (Building Management System) to manage ventilation units and dampers within the 275kV switch hall.
• Heavy-Duty Power: We installed 400v and 110v systems within the switch hall, alongside general small power and emergency lighting across the offices and technical areas.
• Safety & Life Safety: We implemented an L1 Analogue Addressable Fire Alarm system, including the installation of intrinsically safe units specifically for the battery room environments.
• Mechanical & Welfare: The project included full plumbing and sanitary ware for welfare areas, air conditioning for relay rooms, and trace heating for external pipework to ensure environmental resilience.
